Even if you’re not @LatifJunayd, but I sent you a link that brought you here, I hope the general sentiment and reasoning makes sense in your and my situation and interactions on Twitter.
Twitter can easily lend itself to misunderstandings given its terseness. In norming writing without character limits, we often use adjectives, punctuation and rephrasing of ideas to help convey intent and tone. With a limited 140 characters, this often gets lost. This is especially true when dealing with opposing perspectives and hot topics like religion.
In this particular case, I’d like to commend brother @LatifJunayd for a very civil conversation. I wish you joy, happiness and success, brother in humanity!
I generally don’t like to do multiple back and forth rounds on Twitter itself. I know you prefer quick, brief conversation, since family and professional responsibilities don’t afford getting into the writing of long essays and such.
However, my aims and goals are to focus on longer form content that can really go deep and rebut the rebuttals to the rebuttals, etc.
While you’ll find me making the odd comment on Twitter or sharing an interesting resource, I couldn’t possibly have these one on one conversations with everyone who wants to. It is my sincere hope that through writing and laying out my thoughts, interested parties can read what my perspectives are.
Feel free to check out my blog later in the year for articles that will go deeper into the queries you have about the queries that I had, which eventually had me leave Ahmadiyya Islam (and Islam in general): ReasonOnFaith.org.
The shorter articles and extended Twitter responses are available on ReasonOnFaith.org/microblog.
There, you’ll read about some gender issues like the alleged superior mental faculties of men in Ahmadi Muslim Qur’anic commentary, as well as coverage of Ahmadiyyat and homosexuality.
For anyone wondering or thinking, “You didn’t really know anything about Ahmadiyya Islam anyways, that’s why you left!”, please read my long essay (only scratching the surface) on Ahmadiyya Islam’s basic beliefs and interesting practices.
Peace and love!
